How solar energy affect the environment

Solar energy is the cheapest and most accessible renewable energy. This is why many environmental organizations and even national governments push for the large-scale use of the said power source.

But how does solar energy really affect the environment? Will the use of solar power stop climate change? Will it really bring a positive impact on our nature? 

The answer to this question is yes! The large-scale use of solar power can positively affect the environment. However, it’s more of an indirect process than a direct one.

The primary source of power in the world today is fossil fuels. The United States of America alone declared 40% dependence on fossil fuels last 2020. This includes the electricity we use in our homes and the petroleum products we use in our cars.

Turning fossil fuels into usable electricity and petroleum products emit large amounts of greenhouses such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbon, and sulfur hexafluoride. All of them pose a significant risk to the environment. 

Greenhouse gasses are the primary cause of air pollution, resulting in the rapid warming of the environment. This phenomenon then leads to multiple wildfires that consume forests, extreme weather conditions, and even diminish the quality of the ozone layer.

In short, they are the primary cause of global warming.

The large-scale use of solar power will allow people to skip using fossil fuels. This will then lead to reduced greenhouse gasses in our environment. 

Furthermore, turning solar power into usable electricity emits zero waste. It will not produce greenhouse gasses. It doesn’t require harmful substances or chemicals to generate electricity, either.

This is why the large-scale use, or better yet worldwide use of solar energy, is considered one of the best ways to stop global warming.
